2004 PADS BANQUET

9/23/07

Hello PADS racers, and thank you for taking the time to read this.

Unfortunately, we will Not be having our year-end awards banquet for the 2007 season.

The minimum number of people for the banquet room is 125 seats, this means we have to pay for 125 people even if only 70 or so show up.

Unlike other series, we have never stuck to the 1 for 3 rule when it came to year end awards. If a class averaged seven entries and five were there every race; trying their best to win, then why should only Two be eligible for year-end awards? I would have the top five included in the banquet because they were trying just as hard as anyone else to win a championship. (and it filled up the banquet room, meeting our minimum requirements)

The downside to this is that all those other awards are an added expense, funds the series simply doesn’t have this year.

The following figures are approximate and might vary from track to track, but will do for this purpose:

Entries per race: 60  (10 pre-entries and 50 at the track)  +$2,350

Pit passes sold: 110 ($8.00 profit per pit pass)                 +$880

Total take for the day: $3,230

Track Rental: -$1,000

Payroll (track workers, tech. etc…) –$1,100

Ambulance: -$220

Awards: -$500

Supplies: (seals, plates, flyers, paper, web fees, etc…) -$80

WKA Fees: -$80

Equipment Rentals: (mics, computers, etc…) -$100

Total expenses for the day: $3,080

Total Profit for the day: $150 ……as you can see it’s not possible to continue on with a series that’s not self supportive. If it wouldn’t be for our Gracious cash paying sponsors, (Series sponsor Mast Painting, Jagged Edge, Thor Oil, VRE, ARC Racing) there wouldn’t be enough for the year-end awards…. but there is.

The plaques from the last race will be finished soon and mailed out, and the year-end Eagles and plaques will follow in due time.

Championship jackets will be available to the class champions, at the cost to the driver. The jackets will be similar to last year but of a different color, cost is $90.

Hopefully the economy and karting in general has a rebound; and we can continue with this Divisional series, but we will be taking next year off to see what happens.

Thank You, Brian Weaver
